PilotPure’s Focus: “environmentally responsible oil and gas production.”
Protect Your Reservoir
“A proprietary & green solution”
About PilotPure
PilotPure’s team has a combination of over seventy five years of experience in world-wide oil and gas operations. Our team has spent the past twelve years developing sustainable, recycling and remediation technologies for produced water reuse. These technologies solve logistical problems and saves our customers money by recycling, remediating and storing the produced water for immediate and future use. PilotPure’s commitment to safe, reliable and cost-effective operations, improves the Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) customers desire. We are uniquely qualified to provide tailored solutions for our customers’ needs. Our mission is to offer complete wastewater solutions that are green, clean and chemical free without harming the producing reservoir.

Protecting the Reservoir for Longevity and Sustainability
The reservoir is the heart of production and must be treated with extreme care from the beginning. To accomplish this, great care is needed to reduce bacteria and contaminants that could harm the formation. Significant emphasis is placed on sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) because of their clear links to the production of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), which is corrosive to steel. SRB’s were once thought to be able to cause corrosion as a single species. It is now recognized that SRB’s form a part of a microbial community within these formations, and can function deep within biofilms under both anaerobic and aerobic conditions. Because of this, SRB’s or food for existing SRB’s that are introduced, cause a problem that cannot be solved, but only maintained. It is also known historically that when a well is infected, SRB’s will travel through the formation infecting neighboring wells. This happened in the Barnett shale. The treatment program in the Barnett shale is extremely expensive, avoidable, and will never stop because care was not initially taken to treat the frac fluids and solids. To reduce H2S corrosion, great care must be exercised when fracking with water, chemicals and sand to allow for the maximum recovery of hydrocarbons from the reservoir.
Recycling and Treating All Possible Produced Water
The reuse of every possible barrel of produced water is not only economically beneficial but environmentally responsible. For every barrel recycled, there is a 2x impact; it is one less barrel pulled from an aquifer and one less barrel put into a disposal well. The PilotPure system is scalable and capable of remediating and recycling all available produced water to meet the Customer’s daily requirements, with allowances to easily accommodate unforeseen or planned disruptions in the fracking program while simultaneously functioning economically, with an environmental focus.
Iron and Bacteria Removal Process
Removing iron and bacteria from frac water is very important in oilfield operations. Some iron compounds form scale and require more friction reducers during fracking. PilotPure’s process of ion transfer rips ions from microorganisms and bonds soluble iron into insoluble iron clusters precipitating out of solution. Simultaneously during the ion transfer process, chlorides are converted to chlorine and chloramine that creates a persistent microbial kill with very minimum effect to the pH. When the ion transfer is complete, the fluid is transferred to the dropout retention pond where the iron is given time to settle for removal. PilotPure’s process has maintained a <3ppm of iron from an influent of 17-23ppm and ATP reduction resulting in 2-5 ATP pg/ml from an influent of 500 to 5000 ATP pg/ml.
PilotPure charges nothing for mobilization or de-mobilization. We pay for our own energy requirements as long as the operator provides electrical grid access. The cost per barrel is, of course, dependent upon volume in barrels remediated and the terms of the contract. Dependent upon the factors listed above, cost per barrel will range from $.26 per barrel to $.10 per barrel.
